I am married and a mother of two. We are trying to decide where our lives are going. My husband and I get along fairly well, but we are basically roommates. I am not here looking for sex, or even a relationship. What happens, happens. (Please don't read too much in to that.)

I like to consider myself somewhat intelligent. I am not a genius, but I am not an idiot either. I tend to know a little bit about everything, and everything about nothing. My brain is a sack for useless knowledge (thus far). I can tell you that the Boston Terrier was the first American dog breed, but I can't tell you what mix of breeds was crossed to make it. That sort of thing. Yay for useless-ness. Is that even a word? Most likely not; but I digress.

I am crafty. Let me explain. I like crafts, ie polymer clay, painting, beading, learning to woodwork, scrapbooking, those sorts of things. I like being creative, or at least trying to be. I used to draw and write poetry alot, but my collective works of about 10+ years was stolen along time ago. I suppose I lost the will when I lost the items. I still dabble with poetry, but mostly when I'm throwing a pity party and need to let the emotions fly. It is much easier to convey ones feelings in the written form. Although it will never be perfect. Feelings are things that can't be accurately described (by me) no matter how hard I try.

I am laid back, but am trying to get out of being a push-over without resorting to bitchiness. I tend to hold things in until I boil over. I tend to have a more dry sense of humor. I don't like lying, nor being lied to.

I love to go fishing. And yes I can bait my own hook and remove the fish. I do not however know how to clean them..lol. I like the beach, but don't like tempting jellyfish and sharks. Call it irrational fear--of swimming in the ocean. I like photography. I like learning new things in general. If something sparks my interest, I research it (online) to learn more. I like genealogy, but its tough going, my ancestors were sneaky. I adore old architecture. I love the victorian style. However, I beleive if I ever build a house, I want it to be earth sheltered. I have been told by a few friends I should have been born in the sixties.....guess Im a bit of a flowerchild. Which brings us to the outdoors. I like gardening. I love the outdoors but can't handle too much heat..damn growing old. I like wandering through the woods, fields etc. I lived in alaska once, and it was gorgeous. I miss the mountains. That would probably be my ideal place to live, the mountains. I know how to handle a 4 wheeler, and I have a few hours experience on the back of a snowmobile. I have only been snow skiing once, but loved it. I wouldn't mind temtpting a snowy death once again.

I am prone to collecting animals, and not even by choice really. People have been known to just drop them off at my house because they know A)I love animals B) I have experience at having to bottle raise them. I have bottle raised kittens, puppies, an opossum, a goat, a pig, rabbits and 2 squirrels (that I still currently have). I have had a variety of pets and still do. They run from raising chicks/ducklings to scorpions.

Pet peeve: typos, misspelling. I do them both all the time, and I hate it.

Hurray, complete profile revamp! I've recently moved to South Carolina (From 2 years in Okinawa, Japan), and looking to meet new people and explore the area. My profile changes take that into account.

What I think of myself and what others think of me are likely not the same. Since I'm not "others" I can only tell you what I think of myself. I am often shy, and only speak when I feel I have something worth saying. I'm also sometimes lazy, but that's more because I have few friends to go out and do things with, and hate doing things alone. I'm very open-minded, and usually willing to try anything at least once. This includes food types, things to do, places to see... etc.

I'm a little overweight (6'0", 230ish lbs), but actively working to correct that. I have had facial hair in the past (my driver's license photo is a constanst source of laughs) but my present career prevents beards, and I look awful with a regulation mustache. I wear glasses, and will not consider switching to contacts. Laser surgery is still iffy.

I am not usually quick to judge, preferring to gather facts and take the time to see both sides of the fence. For the same reasons I'm also often indecisive in general. Indecision also leads to procrastination, but I work extremely well under pressure. I've been known to procrastinate just to build up pressure so I can work more efficiently.

I've been out of the 'relationship' game for going on 8 years. There's no singular reason for that, but if you really want to know, I'm willing to make it a conversational topic. I'm more interested in what's inside than what i can see - if you're smart, witty and fun, you don't have to also be insanely gorgeous, super-model thin, and blemish free. Sharing interests is probably important, but it is possible I can take up new interests. I'm willing to try anything once.

I'm not particularly artistically inclined, but have always had artistic interests.I like dabbling in computer drawing, photoshoppery, and have an active interest in learning digital photography, using my new Canon Rebel T1i. I am self-taught in most of my hobbies, with some college-level background in computer programming, and pre-css web design. I have a knack for picking up just about anything computer related, hardware or software. I love gadgets! I have an interest in possibly developing college-level knowledge in one more Engineering disciplines, to further some of my hobby ideas.

I refuse to be told that I cannot do something. I will typically go out of my way to prove that I can... and this is a recurring theme for the paths my life has taken. I am constantly reinventing myself to be what I think of as a better person, or to fit certain situations. I'm not particularly socially adept, and tend to avoid group situations when able, but I'd like to try and be more outgoing than I am.

Quick addendum: I don't mind travelling longish distances, within reason. Just about anywhere in South Carolina is within reason, and surrounding states might be as well.

I watch entirely too much Star Trek, I have a fascination with people who can spell, and I'm constantly reinventing myself. I"m random. My dissertation started out as 30 pages of random crap that I've slowly assembled into something that apparently pleased my professor because I have a 4.0 right now. My masters will be in Egyptology with my PhD following. Obviously, as I said, my undergrad is in Philosophy. I'm fascinated with holistic healing and I don't eat red meat. I try to avoid soda. Some people think I'm pretentious, I think I'm discerning. I love to sit around, eating sushi and talking about impossible theories. I'm taking an astronomy course right now and it's fascinating.

I can be overly serious when I'm thinking about people's feelings being involved in a joke about them, yet there are other times when I find it perfectly fine to bust someone's balls about something that's true, but maybe not to the extent the joke takes it.

Hmm, what's more stuff I'm supposed to say? Well, I'm a good listener and if you get me on a subject I love, I can talk your head off. While there are always those universal subjects, there's nothing better than war history, politics, anime, video games, and music. We're all different, so if there's something you're into, as long as it doesn't hurt other people somehow, I'm not going to be judgmental. Even in my head, I usually don't think badly of people based on something they're up to unless it meets that requirement.

In terms of lifestyle, I've been a vegetarian since 2006, because I've always had a strange nagging guilt about eating animals. Even though this is a moral issue with me, I don't fuck with meat eaters over their choice the same way people shouldn't hold religion over one another. I used to be pretty close to being "straight edge", but I've gotten drunk a few times recently and it's a lot more fun than I thought it would be. BUT, there's still some shit that goes on when some people around me are drunk that scares me. And right now, the smell of 151 (very strong rum, apparently) makes me physically ill, so I'm staying away from that for the rest of my life.

I'm very passionate about politics and how it has an influence on people's lives throughout the world. If I had any aspiration in life, it would be to work to better everyone's lives. Of course, I haven't gotten around to doing that in any successful way yet, but I think I've finally reached a stage in my life where I can admit that I've been selfish up to this point in being aware of what I should be doing, yet not doing it. The fears of failure and embarrassment in addition to laziness have held me back.
